Before Drew Brees, before Aaron Brooks, before Bobby Hebert, even before Archie Manning..... there was
Billy Kilmer.
Billy Kilmer was chosen by New Orleans in the expansion draft of
1967. Before that he had been a running back with San Fransisco.
Kilmer emerged as the starting quarterback after beating out Gary Cuozzo and Gary Wood and for 4 seasons was the undisputed leader of the early Saints.
Kilmer would eventually lead the Washington Redskins to an NFC title and a Super Bowl appearance in 1973.
